A Jefferson City man has been charged after being involved in a standoff with police Tuesday afternoon. Michael Brown, 30, is charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree assault, unlawful possession of a firearm, interfering with an arrest and armed criminal action. As of Wednesday afternoon, court records show he was being held in the Cole County Jail without bond.
A Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statement shows officers were called for a weapons offense Monday night in the block of West Ashley Street. Their investigation found Brown and another person pushed their way into a residence with Brown displaying a firearm.
He allegedly pointed it at a woman in the residence, demanded money from her and threatened to kill everyone in the house. Brown reportedly pointed the weapon at the woman, pulled the trigger, but the firearm malfunctioned, and it did not fire.
Brown attempted to clear the malfunction watn in the process discharged the firearm.

Three people who were in the home were able to identify Brown from a photo lineup as the man who had threatened them. Officers also located two. Jetferson
While investigating the case, police learned Brown was in a home in the block of Hickory Street on Tuesday afternoon. Officers tried to contact Brown, who they learned was armed, but he refused to leave the home.Tunisia Girls Eana Chat
Jdfferson evacuated nearby homes for safety, according to a news release. After about a minute standoff, Brown exited the home and officers took him into custody.
